Collage of first 30 narrators of 'Welcome to Eureka Springs'
Half of the chapters of Welcome to Eureka Springs have been recorded for the audiobook edition. The narrators are shown here in the recording studio.

On track for summer release

Four years. That’s how long I’ve been working on Welcome to Eureka Springs: The I-Sh*t-You-Not History of America’s Quirkiest Town.

When I started, I had no idea what I was getting into. I thought I’d be done in a year.

Well, the end is finally in sight. I’m on track for a summer release for the print and ebook editions. The first 50 of the book’s 60 short chapters are in the hands of the designer. I expect to finish the final 10 next month.

The audiobook edition might get a separate release date. That one has the fun twist that a different Eureka Springs area resident will narrate each chapter.

Today, we hit the halfway mark when Wendi La Fey became the 30th narrator, a little more than a year after Shawn Fouste became the first.

The audiobook project has become more fun and meaningful than I could have imagined. The whole is definitely greater than the sum of its parts. I’m looking forward to when I can finally share it!
